The Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine School of Pharmacy in Bradenton, FL welcomes its largest class of students and begins an historic fourth year.

With the matriculation of 125 students in the Class of 2014, the school now has enrolled four pharmacy classes since opening in 2007. The School will graduate its first Bradenton pharmacy class in June 2011.

Hershey S. Bell, MD, Dean of the LECOM School of Pharmacy welcomed the incoming class to the pharmacy profession.

“Starting today, think of yourselves as pharmacists and the critical responsibility that each of you will have for your patients,” said Dr. Bell.

The Class of 2014 was selected from over 1,500 applications. Sixty-five percent of the students are from Florida.

Part of the Class of 2014’s orientation process was the annual team building exercises at Summerfield Park in Lakewood Ranch. Students get to know each other by participating in events that foster team work, promote trust, tolerance, and support a positive environment.

Students met their faculty advisers, learned about the various on-campus pharmacy clubs and were treated to a picnic at the beach by Wal-mart Pharmacy.
