According to the American
Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM), the NAOME was designed to develop a
community of outstanding educators who have met rigorous standards of academic scholarship. Each
Academy Fellow is inducted for a five-year period, during which the individual serves as a leader
and mentor for academic scholarship in the osteopathic medical education profession.
Dr.
Bell is among the first class of Fellows, which were selected following a rigorous application and
selection process, including the training of selectors and oversight of the selection process by
Nancy Searle, EdD, Director, Baylor Academy of Distinguished Educators.
In addition to Dr.
Bell’s prestigious honor, several LECOM faculty members, administrators and students earned
accolades for their commitment to osteopathic education and advancement over the past year.
Second-year LECOM Erie medical student John Leuenberger and second-year LECOM Bradenton medical
student Katie Menssen were recognized as the LECOM Student DO of the Year recipients.
Richard Ortoski, DO, Associate Professor of Family Medicine and Primary Care Clinical Director
