Students from The Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine School of Pharmacy Bradenton have joined the national pharmacy leadership society Phi Lambda Sigma with the chartering of a new Gamma Pi chapter.

LECOM School of Pharmacy Bradenton Dean Dr. Gary Levin holds the charter for the College's Phi Lambda Sigma student leadership society with faculty member Rebecca Falter, Pharm.D and national chapter member at-large Tres Schiltz.

The mission of Phi Lambda Sigma is to promote the development of leadership qualities, especially among pharmacy students.

Members are selected by peer recognition. Such recognition instills and enhances self-confidence, encourages students to a more active role, and promotes greater effort toward the advancement of pharmacy.

The following LECOM Bradenton students took the Phi Lambda Sigma oath in front of School of Pharmacy faculty and staff: Esosa Adun, Olutola Ajanaku, Rebecca Arcebido, Amy Ferrol, Vishva Gandhi, Tiffany Harrison, Cassandra Karish, Janinie Manning, Peris Mukundi, Alvana Nicaj, Pratima Patel, Soumia Thakkolkaran and Linh Tran (All students are in the Class of 2011).

Rebecca Falter, PharmD, Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice, is the faculty advisor.

The formal ceremony at LECOM was conducted by Tres Schiltz, a student at the Medical University of South Carolina and Phi Lambda Sigma national member at-large, and Lindsey Childs, a University of Florida pharmacy student and Region 1 Phi Lambda Sigma liaison.
