LECOM faculty member wins Distinguished Service Award
Stephany Esper, DO, Clinical Professor of Family Medicine and Osteopathic Principles and
Practice at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, was honored as the recipient of the
Distinguished Service Award among Medical Providers at the fourth annual Celebrate Healthcare
Professionals awards banquet, hosted by the Sarah A. Reed Retirement Center. The event honors
individual workers who excel in the Erie area’s healthcare environment.

In nominating
Dr. Esper for the award, Kathy Wetsell acknowledged the important role Dr. Esper played in seeing
her family “through all kinds of medical issues.” She noted that “she is always
available, always reachable and always caring.”
Dr. Esper has a family practice in
Erie at Ridgeway Medical Center, and serves as an active supporter and educator at LECOM. She
routinely serves as a medical preceptor for LECOM students, who work in clinical rotations with Dr.
Esper and her patients. She has been actively involved in many organizations including leadership
positions with the American Osteopathic Association and the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical
Association. She also served as Chief of Staff at Millcreek Community Hospital and serves as
faculty president at LECOM.
