it.

| Christopher Ganey of Bradenton and Summer Moon
of St. Petersburg are among the students from the Class of 2013 who hail from
Florida. |
More than half (51 percent) of the incoming students are from Florida. This is the first time in
LECOM Bradenton's six-year history that the majority of the class consists of in-state
residents.
“It is important that we recruit the best the brightest from Florida," said LECOM
Bradenton Associate Dean of Academic Affairs Robert George, DO. "The goal is to train them and
keep them in-state for their post-graduate medical training."
For Summer Moon, the idea of becoming a physician started at an early age. "When I was 3, I
wrote on a piece of paper that I wanted to be a doctor," said Moon, who hails from St.
Petersburg, Fla. "I still have that piece of paper hanging on my wall."
LECOM Bradenton's Class of 2013 has 162 students from 26 states, who began their medical school
journey on July 27.
Second-year osteopathic students report to campus on Aug. 3.
