Coffee Culture New York Inc. is pleased to announce that the Buffalo, N.Y.,
U.S. headquarters is entering into a franchise agreement with the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) to convert a major portion of
their Student Center to a Coffee Culture Cafe & Eatery.
The Student Center, located at
5761 Peach St. in Erie, will be undergoing a major interior remodeling with seating for more than
65 people. The new coffee Café will be open to the public and LECOM students, faculty and staff. The
renovations will provide a secure, separate study area for the students. The Cafe will also include
a drive-thru window and an outdoor patio for patrons.
LECOM will invest more than $500,000 for
renovations, landscaping, and equipment in the Coffee Culture Cafe. LECOM will manage the daily
operations of the facility and employ up to 30 people.

Geiger, Vice President of Real Estate and Franchise Development for Coffee Culture, explains the
layout of the new coffee shop to attendees of the press conference. |
The student center opened in 2008 to provide medical and pharmacy students a place to gather for
meetings, activities and an off-campus space to prepare for classes and tests. The center lacked
a food service, which required students catering their Student Center events. The renovations will
allow the students to take advantage of the space to study, hold club and student government meetings, and social activities, now with the advantage of having a cafe next
door.
Coffee Culture Cafe & Eatery originated in Mississauga, Ontario, with their first
location opening in Woodstock Ontario in 2006. Since their opening they now have over 50 locations
opened in Ontario which led them to the U.S. expansion with corporate offices in Buffalo, N.Y.
Obsidian Group which is the parent company who owns and operates Coffee Culture Cafes also has
other concepts known as Crabby Joe's (casual dining) and most recently rolled out a new Fresh
Burger and Fries concept called UB Burger.
Coffee Culture Cafe & Eatery is designed like
a "European Cafe" with granite table and counter tops, warm comfortable seating with
upscale interiors that make the Cafe unique. They offer specialty coffees (Cappuccino, lattes,
chillers and coffee blends) and also offer a variety of soups, salads, and specialty Panini Grilled
sandwiches along with a variety of Wraps.
Coffee Culture bakes fresh daily on premise
offering fresh baked muffins, pastries, scones, croissants, cookies and serving upscale gourmet
cakes and apple tarts. There is a "soft seating" section with leather chairs, fire place
and flat screen TVs for those who just want to relax with a cup of their favorite high quality
coffee and enjoy free wi-fi connectivity.
Coffee Culture typically uses around 2,000 square
feet and will employ between 25 and 30 employees with hours of operation opening at 6 a.m. and
closing at midnight seven days a week.
