DENTAL SIMULATION CLINIC FACULTY

The successful candidate must be well versed and experienced in all phases of Restorative Dentistry and have achieved a specific level of expertise in Dental Anatomy, Dental Biomaterials, and Radiographic interpretation of developmental and acquired anomalies of teeth and associated oral structures. Knowledge and expertise in Operative Dentistry, Treatment Planning, Cariology, Esthetics, Adhesive Dentistry, and Fixed and Removable Prosthetic Dentistry are essential.  Some knowledge/experience with the Problem Based Education Model is desired.

Experience with the integration of dental anatomy, occlusion, restorative dentistry, prosthodontics, dental bio-materials, treatment planning and diagnosis, into a comprehensive curriculum, utilizing case based models, evidenced based models, and demonstrations in the patient based simulation clinic is preferred.

Should be comfortable preparing lectures, small group discussions, and a selection of suggested and required reading from the Vital Source Bookshelf.

Experience in Dental Education is preferred.  Dental Degree from an Accredited Educational Institution required. Basic computer proficiency such as ability to research issues using internet and communicating through electronic mail is required.

GENERAL PRACTICE DENTISTRY PRECEPTOR

Must be able to provide third year dental students with basic clinical training in the following disciplines of general dentistry: Oral Diagnosis, Oral and Maxillofacial surgery, Endodontics, Periodontics, Operative Dentistry, Fixed Prosthodontics, Removable Prosthodontics, Pediatrics, Orthodontics and Geriatrics.

Possess skills to be able to instruct 3rd year dental students to select, obtain and interpret patient data for the comprehensive assessment of a diverse patient population. Training in hospital based dental general practice residency program or dental school advanced education in general dentistry residency preferred.

The preceptors provide their students with training in diagnosis, treatment planning, sequencing and the actual treatment of their assigned patients. Preceptors must be able to advise the students when consultations in the various specialties of dentistry are needed.

Be available to teach in the dental group practice two and a half days per week for 48 weeks from May 27, 2014 to May 15, 2015.  Teach in the Dental Group Practices Monday morning, Wednesday all day and Friday all day or teach Monday afternoon, Tuesday all day and Thursday all day. Must be able to teach 20 hours per week.

D.D.S or D.M.D. degree required.

ORAL SURGEON

LECOM’s School of Dental Medicine is seeking a full or part-time oral surgeon. Primary responsibility will be to advise students with consultations in the various specialties of dentistry as needed for Oral Diagnosis and Oral/Maxillofacial surgery.

Duties include instructing dental students with basic clinical training in the following disciplines of Oral Surgery: Oral diagnosis and treatment planning, oral and maxillofacial surgery, simple extraction of teeth, surgical extraction of erupted teeth involving the surgical sectioning of teeth, soft tissue impaction, the removal of root tips, alveoloplasty of ridges after the extraction of teeth,  pre-prosthetic surgery that involves maxillary and mandibular tori reduction, and maxillary tuberosity reduction; teaching students to evaluate oral pathology of hard and soft tissues and perform soft tissue biopsies; instructing students in the referral process as well as how to select, obtain and interpret patient data for the comprehensive assessment of a diverse patient population; and other duties as assigned.

D.D.S or D.M.D. degree with completion certificate of advanced training from an accredited Oral Surgery training program required. A minimum of ten years’ experience in practicing oral surgery preferred.
