PBL DIRECTOR

The Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) is seeking a qualified individual to join our faculty team as Director of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) at the LECOM Campus in Bradenton, Florida. Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Preclinical Education, the challenge of the PBL Director is to provide leadership to both students and faculty facilitators in our very successful and innovative PBL curriculum. The Director of PBL plays a critical role in implementing, improving, and designing our PBL curriculum to meet the mission and goals of LECOM.  Our PBL curriculum spans both preclinical years of our medical students’ education.

PH.D. preferred, DO or MD acceptable. Minimum of 4 years teaching courses at a medical college or other graduate school. At least 3 years of service in a leadership role at a graduate school level. Previous course direction experience preferred. Deep knowledge of theories of learning and curricular design and implementation. Prior experience in the PBL curriculum. A deep understanding and belief in the PBL curriculum. Past experience in faculty leadership and administration. A proven track record of student mentorship.

MEDICAL FACULTY

The Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine seeks an osteopathic physician for a full-time Assistant/Associate Professor position at its branch campus in Bradenton, Florida. Responsibilities of the successful candidate will include teaching in the Osteopathic Principles and Practices course, advising medical students, interviewing applicants, and contributing to the mission of the college through research and service. The successful candidate will also participate in the History and Physical Examination course and facilitate in the problem based learning (PBL) curriculum. Applicants must hold a D.O. degree from an AOA accredited osteopathic medical school and be licensed in the state of Florida.

BASIC SCIENCE FACULTY

The Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track, 12 month faculty position at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor for the Bradenton, Florida campus. The successful applicant will have experience in teaching basic science courses in one of the following disciplines: medical biochemistry, pharmacology, physiology, or anatomy. Additional expertise in immunology, genetics, or microbiology is desirable. Responsibilities will include lectures to Pharmacy students, and integration into the College of Medicine's problem based learning (PBL) curriculum. Preference will be given to individuals with a progressive teaching philosophy and previous facilitator experience in a PBL or team-based learning environment. Additional qualifications include a strong desire to foster learning in an innovative curriculum, advisement and mentorship of medical students, a positive attitude, and ability to contribute to the development of the college through research and service. Faculty rank and salary are dependent on qualifications and experience.
