More accurate than conventional cholesterol testing, the LPPTM test provides a cardiovascular risk assessment through detection of all National Cholesterol Education Program risk factors, including Lp(a), RLP, HDL2b and small, dense LDL accurately measuring particle subgroups of VLDL, LDL and HDL helping to identify the 50% of patients that are at risk for cardiovascular disease but have “normal” cholesterol levels. This superior technology enables clinicians to treat atherogenic lipoprotein profiles before overt dyslipidemia becomes apparent.
Incorporating non-lipid risk factors such as hypertension, obesity, high glucose, smoking, family history and other medical history, the LPP+ gives Lp-PLA2, CRP, Insulin and homocysteine values reflecting overall cardiovascular pro-file, not just a single value. HS Omega 3 Index®
Half of all fatal heart attacks are due to sudden cardiac death and abnormal rhythms of the heart. This test determines the patient’s risk for sudden cardiac death. An adequate level of the omega-3’s Fatty Acids can significantly reduce this risk. The HS-Omega-3 Index is a great compliment to the LPP™ test for cardiovascular risk reduction and the management and treatment of lipoprotein disorders. If a deficiency of Fatty Acids exists, supplement recommendations are provided.
Telomeres are sections of genetic material at the end of each chromosome whose primary function is to prevent chromosomal “fraying” when a cell replicates. As a cell ages, its telomeres become shorter. Eventually, the telomeres be-come too short to allow cell replication, the cell stops dividing and will ultimately die - a normal biological process.
SpectraCell’s Telomere Test measures the length of your telomeres revealing your true cellular age. Studies show a direct correlation between telomere length and cardiovascular health. Serial evaluation of telomere length is an indicator of how rapidly one ages relative to a normal population. Therapies directed at slowing the loss of telomere length may slow aging and age-related diseases.
Aspirin Response Test – for participants on aspirin
Designed for individuals on aspirin therapy, this test is performed on a urine sample and is used to determine levels of 11-dehydro thromboxane B2 which aids in the qualitative detection of aspirin effect in apparently healthy individuals post ingestion. In aspirin treated patients, high levels of 11dhTxB2 are associated with an increased risk of heart attack and cardiac death. Patients who do not respond to aspirin are three times more likely to die of cardiovascular disease than those who respond well to aspirin.
High cholesterol and diabetes are two examples associated with a diminished response to aspirin. This test helps to identify who is not being protected and allows for individualized aspirin therapy.
