LECOM associate dean prepares for 2nd deployment to Iraq

Regan Shabloski, D.O., associate dean of clinical education, is set to begin his second deployment to Iraq. He’ll be serving with the Pennsylvania National Guard Medical Detachment based out of Ft. Indiantown Gap. His group’s primary duties will be to work as a forward support unit. “We’ll handle everything from routine sick calls to gunshot wounds,” said Dr. Shabloski.

Emily Matson from WICU 12 News interviews Dr. Regan Shabloski, LECOM Associate Dean of Clinical Education.

From 2005 until 2006, Dr. Shabloski served seven months in Iraq, starting in Baghdad where he provided medical care. "I was in a fixed emergency room setting. Then I went to Ramadi and hooked up with the second brigade team from Pennsylvania; that was a much more intense situation,” he said.

Shabloski, a lieutenant colonel, believes he will encounter a much safer environment during this tour. He is scheduled to stay overseas for three to four months and will be replacing another physician on duty.
